The Vending Door is an absurd hotel-room door that allows its residents to sell their privacy - for 25 cents per 10 seconds.

The Vending Door is an absurd design for the absurd hotel -- an assignment in the class Design the Absurd at ITP, NYU. When inserted a US quarter coin, the peep hole in the center of the door opens up for 10 seconds before closing up again. The videos below demonstrate this interaction.

Mechanical Design
To simplify its installation process, we design the door completely mechanically, making the door a Rube Goldberg machine that does not require manual resetting. The coin inserted by the user both triggers the peep-hole to open and covers it up at the end of the 10 second view time.
